Coming Soon to a Blog Near You

The boy got some really cool Birthday/Christmas presents this year.   I am not ashamed to admit that I like playing with some of his new toys almost as much as he does.  Actually I like some of his toys MORE than he does, but I *am* ashamed to admit that.

However, being the compulsive editor/improver that I am, I can't leave well enough alone.  Here is one "improvement" I finished, and two more that are still in research and development.

This was a wicked cool present from my friend for Silas' birthday.  She knows the story of the Ballpoint Pen New Couch Debacle of '09, so she decided to give the boy a different outlet for his creative juices.  These are 12x12 chalkboard wall decals.  They stick to the wall (or door or table or whatever) and can be removed without damage and re-stuck somewhere else.  So cool.  The problem was that my son had a fascination with pulling the decals off the wall and then throwing them under the bed aka the dust bunny graveyard.

To keep the decals from becoming permanently dustified, I knew I would have to make sure boy couldn't get them off the wall.  A thin border of painter's tape did the trick.  Colorful and easy.  Only took me about 90 seconds to finish this project, possibly why it's the only one of these three projects that I have actually gotten done.

I cannot tell you how much I love this thing.  I just want to snuggle it and its organized loverly-ness.  This was on Silas' wishlist, which means I picked it out and asked the grandparents to get it for him.  :P  It's so wonderful to be able to sort out all his various toys, ask him what he wants to play with, and then take JUST that bin downstairs to the living room.  Love.

The plan is to come up with some kind of todder-friendly labelling system to mark each bin.  That way he can be in charge of putting his toys away and can practice his sorting skillz.  It's on the to-do list.

And then there's THIS.

Ah, yes, THIS.  THIS will soon be the star of its own post.  It will be an epic post filled with twists and turns, ups and downs.  You'll laugh, you'll cry, it'll be better than Cats.

I don't want to give away the ending, but I will give you a little hint about the plot.  Let's just say I should have paid better attention to this:

Oh!  And because I TOTALLY want to win this giveaway....
